Universities get Fired Up

QFE is the fire detection system provider of choice in the education sector, with Australian Catholic University and Griffith University both receiving new systems to ensure any on campus fires are detected and dealt with as efficiently as possible.

At Australian Catholic University the project brief was to install a fire detection and emergency warning system in a new building and to integrate the system into the overall site for network. By using fibre optic technology, we were able to deliver a solution that provides exceptionally fast alarm response times – typically less than 3 seconds across the network.

At the 8-story building at Griffith University’s Gold Coast campus, QFE were asked to design, construct and maintain a complete fire detection system with intercommunication system.

The solution included an Emergency Warning System which, in an emergency situation, produces alert and evacuation tones, coupled with systematic voice-over commands using the emergency public address facility ensure all occupants are aware and informed of fire events in the building.

In addition, a dedicated emergency intercommunication system was installed throughout the buildingso Fire Wardens can communicate with each other to confirm the evacuation of a building.
